The committee members of the Malaysian Music Therapy Association (MMTA) consists of clinicians with diverse background and working experiences.

Sandra Cheah
President

Sandra Cheah, MoPC, MT-BC, is a dual-licensed professional, certified as both a boardcertified music therapist and a licensed counselor. With over 12 years of experience working with individuals with complex needs, she has held roles in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Neurologic Music Therapy at UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital in Los Angeles. Sandra has also volunteered at Hospital Tunku Azizah (HTA), providing perinatal and pediatric bereavement services for four years, and she is the sole provider of heartbeat recording services in Malaysia.


Currently, as President of the Malaysian Music Therapy Association, Sandra advocates for the advancement of music therapy and provides rehabilitation services across diverse age demographics in Malaysia. She also serves as a Visiting Specialist in the pediatric palliative department at Pusat Perubatan University Malaya (PPUM). Drawing from her education at Berklee College of Music, specialized training in music therapy from Boston Children's Hospital and neurobiology from Harvard University, Sandra integrates her expertise from her Masters in Professional Counseling to offer music psychotherapy sessions tailored for postpartum parents, individuals, and families facing mental health issues and challenging circumstances. She provides these services at various centers, including The Inner Lynk, Publika, and The Wave Clinic, a residential treatment center.


Additionally, Sandra shares her knowledge as a speaker, delivering inspirational talks on music-based mental wellness to international corporations, hospitals, preschools, and universities across the globe.
