The committee members of the Malaysian Music Therapy Association (MMTA) consists of clinicians with diverse background and working experiences.
Gurpreet offers Music Therapy at her clinic in the Jesselton Medical Centre in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. She holds a practising licence with the Health and Care Professions Council of the United Kingdom. She has been awarded a MA in Music Therapy from the University of the West of England, Bristol (UWE Bristol), a PgDip in Music Therapy from Roehampton University, London, and a BA(Hons) in Jazz and Popular Music from Middlesex University, London. She is a Clinical Supervisor for UWE Bristol, and guides trainee therapists from the United Kingdom on international placements in Sabah.
Gurpreet has over 20 years of extensive clinical experience as a music therapist and music psychotherapist for diverse clinical populations, including medical and mental health patients. Her primary therapeutic orientation is psychoanalytic and psychodynamic. She has a special interest in trauma, abuse, suicidality, autism, personality disorders, and psychosis, but still helps general patients as well. Gurpreet is also a certified Drum Circle Facilitator, and runs workshops for corporate stress management, as well as mental health, addiction and disability support groups.
